Gator Swim Team

This summer the girls decided to try our neighborhood swim team.  It's not a highly competitive team, but they do a great job teaching strokes, teamwork, and skills.  We hadn't done it before due to our schedules, but signed them up in late spring.  Riley knew she wanted to do it, but Julia wasn't sure.  Julia told me that she'd have to see what the swim team swimsuit looked like before making up her mind.  When she saw that it was black with green trim, she thought it was cute and decided to join the team.  She loves her fashion!

As we were out of town, we missed the first week so yesterday was their first day to practice.  Julia has practice from 8:45-9:30 and Riley has practice from 9:30-10:15.  The best part is that we live so close to the pool so we just walk there each morning.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they have extra small group lessons to help with their strokes and starting block techniques.

Julia is all smiles the entire time and will look for me when I come at the end of her practice.  She'll be doing her strokes and when she sees me, she smiles - goes under - comes up and smiles - goes under.  It's so cute.  At her stroke lesson today, she was with one other girl.  This girl was very nice to her yesterday and they kept talking and laughing.  Turns out her name is Julia as well.

Riley is enjoying it so far.  She'll really enjoy it when her good friend Vivian is with her next week.  Vivian is at her church VBS helping out this week and will be back next week.  Riley made a new friend named Viviana as well.

Proud of the girls for stepping out of their comfort zones and trying something new.
