Little Fish

Our girls have officially become fish.  It's been amazing the growth in their ability and swim strokes in just two weeks.  They are both diving and using butterfly kicks to propel themselves through the water.  They're definitely better swimmers than I am!

One of our favorite things to do is to walk to the pool as a family after dinner when it's dark outside (or close to it) and swim into the late night around 10pm.  There are really cute lights hung from the trees, the pool lights are on, and the breeze blows so nicely.  Plus we don't have to put on loads of sunscreen or have concerns about being sunburned.

My mom used to tell me that she loved taking us to the pool because it was one of the things we could all do and we didn't argue/fight while we were there.  Same is true of our girls.  We had a challenging morning - girls argued about who was sitting where on the couch - in a room that has two oversized couches.  But they wanted the same exact seat on the couch.  So there was that.  Meant time in their rooms without iPads/electronics, followed by a good talk, and then some quiet time with all of us reading our own books individually in the same room to bring some peace.  Riley made us all a fruit smoothie, we ate lunch, and then chose to go to the pool around 1pm.

The girls and I had a great time swimming.  They love to dive into the pool and today both of them dove off the diving board for the first time.  So proud of them!  I purchased a pair of goggles so I could swim around with them underwater.  We did jumps off the side together and had tea parties underwater.  I took five minute breaks twice to just lay in the sun and thanked God for such an amazing neighborhood pool.  The hour and a half we were there today changed the trajectory of our day.
