COVID-19 First Day of Online Learning (Riley and Julia)

It arrived - the girls first day of online learning.  We've been anticipating it for a while now (or at least  a week and a half).  Both were unsure about what to expect and nervous and anxious.  Last night Julia was trying to sleep after an exciting birthday.  Riley was just nervous because it was the unknown.  That's always uncertain!

This morning both girls woke up earlier than we had been.  We'd gotten WAY off schedule and have been going to bed around 11pm and waking up between 9 and 10 (or for Riley, around noon!).  They got breakfast and then Riley had her Zoom call with her advisory.  She chose to wear a cute t-shirt and some shorts.  Adorable and very simple.  Riley had made sure the view of her room was clean and ready to go for the call.  She also had a Zoom meeting for social studies.  In that meeting one of the students wore a hockey mask through the entire call and she said they couldn't stop laughing.

At 10am, I shared with Julia that she'd need to get ready for her Zoom call with her class.  She put on jeans, a shirt, and a jean jacket.  Then did her hair with a headband.  She had a pencil and notepad ready to go so she could take any notes needed.  It was cute to see them all login (took at least ten minutes for everyone to get on and figure out the camera - it was the first time so that makes sense).  After a while they all wanted to show each other their pets.  Her teacher would ask a question and the kids would respond with things like "I see it!" "Yes, it's there"  "I see it too" - but because of the delay you could hear them responding repeatedly.  Was so cute.  Julia had also cleared off her desk and I asked her to make her bed - just in case.

There wasn't much online work today, but with a fuller schedule tomorrow I'm anticipating we will get a better glimpse of what could be considered more of the norm.  The girls spent pretty much the entire day in their rooms today.  Hoping to get them out and about a little more tomorrow!
