Road Trip to Austin (Regatta Weekend)

This past Saturday Riley had a regatta at Lady Bird Lake in Austin.  We ended up having a lot of rain/ice a few days before so Julia's soccer game on Saturday was cancelled.  We woke up Saturday morning and decided to take a road trip to Austin to watch Riley's race and then return back to Dallas right afterwards.  Julia and I loaded up our gear in the car.  It was misty and cold so we brought all our COE layers, some snacks in Walmart bags, two gatorades, and fun music on the iPhone.

We listened to Broadway songs all the way down.  Decided our song was "You'll Be Back" from Hamilton (love me some Jonathan Groff) and sang it multiple times.  At one point, Julia put her seat back to lie down and put her feet up on the side of the door.  She hit the window button that caused the window to come down.  It was raining and super cold wind was blowing in.  Took her by surprise.  She sat up and closed the window while we laughed.

At the regatta Riley hung with her team while Julia and I hung out under the Ursuline tents while we waited for her race.  It was a really difficult day to race.  The first boats out in the morning gave the girls icicles in their hair and they were freezing and wet.  It began to rain while Riley's boat got out onto the water.  They waited about 20-30 minutes before the race began.  Riley was in the stroke seat and the boat had a rocky start.  The girls were fairly out of sync and struggled, but it was a great way for them to have experience in a regatta.  Plus it was fun to cheer her on!

We've both been on a Lucky Charms eating spree and decided to stop at Target on the way home to get a box, but since they had a special edition out with green marshmallows for March we picked up two boxes.  Stopped at Dairy Queen to get Julia a cheeseburger, but they gave her a cheeseburger without cheese.  We rocked out to Broadway tunes all the way home and then chilled the rest of the night.  It was a fun one-day road trip!
