No Schedule
We're on our own schedules at this point. Bedtime is sometime between 9 and midnight. Wake up for me is 7am or 7:15 or 7:45. Depends on how many times I hit the alarm. Julia is sleeping until 9am. Or 10am like this morning. Riley's on her own time table and has missed a few Zoom advisory meetings after sleeping through her alarm while I was already on a Zoom call with my class. We're not functioning at our highest levels, but our home is peaceful, joyful, and I'm loving just being home with the girls and seeing them throughout the day. Peace has become much more important than anything else we do. Making sure the girls know they're loved and safe and that they matter so much.
Today Julia asked Riley if she'd play Minecraft with her. They spent at least an hour or more playing together. Riley was at her desk using the Xbox controller and her iPad while Julia laid in her bed playing on her iPad. It was so sweet. They could peek through the open doors of the bathroom to see each other and yell out towards each other what to work on. Was one of my favorite parts of the day just seeing them enjoying time together.
Time on their devices has gone through the roof. We've given up on managing the amount of time they're on their devices. Talking with friends? Great! Playing games? Great! Watching tv shows? Cool! We are still doing some family outdoor games - biking, playing soccer, and walking the dog - but the managing of screen time is nothing. As long as they're on appropriate sites and we know what they're doing, totally fine. Are they surviving? Then they're thriving.
