GSES Girls Soccer Game Win!

Today Riley's soccer team played against Hockaday and won!  It was their first win of the season.  They played Prince of Peace in their first game and lost so it was great to have a win in the second game.  They were up 3-0 in the first half and ended the game with 5-0.  Riley was thrilled to win and came home so excited.

Tryouts were a few weeks ago and I was a little nervous for her because she hasn't played soccer since the beginning of 3rd grade.  I figured that most of the girls would have had experience and she might not make the team.  It would have been a good lesson about going for things and dealing with disappointment, but it was awesome that they had a smaller number of girls tryout so everyone made the team.  I love that she went for it and is now getting the opportunity to play.  It's a great way for her to meet other girls she might not be around and to try a sport she enjoys.

At her first game she was so excited that she was a starting player.  She asked Ms. Logan, her math teacher and coach, how long she had played in the game.  Ms. Logan told her that she'd played for 15 minutes in the first half and Riley was thrilled.  Other girls had complained that they weren't getting to play more and Ms. Logan used Riley's positive attitude and excitement about being a starting player to demonstrate that it's all about outlook.  So very very proud of our girl!
