First Middle School Dance

Tonight is Riley's first dance at GSES.  It's for 7th and 8th graders.  Before the party there was a pre-party at the Trubey's house.  They had snacks and a backdrop for pictures along with a photographer. It was a gorgeous night.

We left school early around 2:45pm after Riley's last class to allow her plenty of time to relax and prepare for the dance.  She had a beautiful navy dress from Altar'd State with a bracelet, earrings, and belt. For her shoes she wore the pair I wore in our wedding almost 16 years ago.  Loved that they were getting to be worn again!  Her dress had been sewn together at the front, but had ripped out so Riley sewed the top stitch to keep it closed together.  She did awesome!

She found a beautiful nail polish in the basket of her bathroom to use and we put it on her hands and feet.  It was a gorgeous color!  The unfortunate part was that it would not dry at all.  After 30 minutes it was still completely wet.  So we just wiped it all off with toilet paper because we didn't want it to smear on her dress or anything else.  Note to self:  let her get a mani/pedi before her next dance!  She handled it really well even though she was frustrated.

I did her makeup and even though I'm not an amazing makeup artist, she looked stunning.  Though she's stunning all on her own.  The makeup just enhanced her natural beauty.  It was hard to get the mascara to go on evenly for both eyes.  Riley was frustrated by this, but we finally made it work the best we could.  She really looked gorgeous.  We flat-ironed her hair which really helped it lay nicely.

Then she got in her dress and shoes and added the accessories.  Gorgeous!

The girls enjoyed talking and eating together before the dance at the Trubey's house.  Riley was so complimentary of the other girls and they were the same way to her.  She was encouraged by their compliments and said she felt more confident afterwards.  We drove her to the dance at the school following the pre-party.  She got out of the car, joined her friends, and hopefully had a great time.  We'll know in about an hour how it all went.  Hoping she has a wonderful time!
