Our Little Preacher

This morning, as we were getting ready for school, Riley started telling us Bible stories.  It started when I was making popcorn for my fourth graders for their golden music day.  Riley said "Maybe if you pray, Mom, God will make it enough to feed everyone.  Like that little boy in the story."  Right Riley!  Such amazing faith!

Then she asked me to take down bread out of the pantry.  So I did.  I was curious as to what she was going to do with it.  So she started talking:

"See this bread?  Feel it!  Touch it, Mom!  Okay, touch it Dad!  This is God's body.  Madi - touch the bread.  See - this is God's body!  And do you see this (she walks to our refrigerator and the water dispenser) - this water is God's blood.  He died for many.  To forgive all of us.  This is His blood.  And this is His body."

She was able to completely tell the story of Daniel and the lions den.  She told how the King made a new rule because his servants told him to make it, how they caught Daniel praying when he was only supposed to pray to the King, how they put him in the lion's Den and the King told him that he hoped he'd live, how God kept the lions mouths closed, how the King asked if Daniel was fine in the morning and he told the King that God had closed the lions' mouths and that the King praised Daniel's God.  She went on and on... awesome!

I'm pretty sure she would have continued to tell more stories if we had more time.  We thanked her for sharing and told her that God had certainly given her the gift of faith, encouragement and an amazing mind that remembers everything.  Truly, everything.

She just smiled and said "Thanks."
