Riley the Rower

 It's as though Riley was created to row on the crew team.  She's loving it and really great at it.  She has practice five days a week including 2 1/2 hours on Saturday mornings.  Most of the practices are at White Rock Lake.  It's beautiful!

Riley had her first regatta at Pumpkinhead in Austin, Texas.  She rode down with her team on Friday and then we drove down that night and met up with her on Saturday.  Riley was able to compete as part of the novice 4 boat and the novice 8 boat.  She was the pace setter for the 4-person and had a good race.  It was so exciting to watch her!

The 8-person boat came in third place and each student in that boat earned a pumpkinhead medal.  Riley was super excited about that.  The coxswain was her friend Laurel.  Laurel drives Riley to practices and they've bonded.  They even have a playlist for when they head to the lake.
