That Was Weird... and Funny

We got to the doctor and first thing they said was "Oh.  Those are very red eyes.  And very goopy."  Yes, thank you for validating what I had called about.  Was very obvious she wasn't doing very well.

So we waited for the nurse to check her out.  She had a fever of 99.6 - very mild, but there.  They asked if I thought she would pee in a cup for a urine sample.  As she hadn't gone recently, I didn't think it'd be a problem.  So I explained to Riley what she'd be doing.  She just started giggling and said "That sounds really funny, Mom."

We went in the bathroom to do it.  Riley giggled the whole time and when she was done said "That was weird... and funny!!"  Then we went back to the room to wait on the results.

The doc came in to look at her and said that she definitely had oozing in the eyes and was fighting an infection.  He asked her if her eyes hurt.  She said "A little."  He asked if her private area hurt.  She replied "A little."  He asked if her head hurt.  She said "A little."  He asked if her ears hurt.  She said (again) "A little."  So he started teasing her and asking if her toe hurt.  She replied "No."  And kept asking about other body parts.  She started giggling again and kept saying "No."

He checked her ears and was quite amazed at the amount of pus behind the ear drum.  He said that most children with that amount would be crying and complaining.  Riley had done neither of these.  She hadn't even been playing with her ears.  He checked the other ear and said it was also very bad.

Then he checked her private area after reading the urine sample and seeing that she has a bladder infection.  Though this will be verified by Wednesday when the sample is analyzed to a greater degree.  He said that she has a slight yeast infection as well and that antibiotics will increase it and make it worse.  But she needs antibiotics for her ears, eyes, bladder infection.  So we have to do certain cream (Monistat) to help keep down the yeast infection.  Poor girl :(

I let the doc know that we'd be going on an airplane and a cruise starting on Thursday.  He then made note that the medicine he prescribes would have to be fine to take without refrigeration.  Thankfully there was one she could take.

The medicine smells nasty!  We did the first dose tonight.  Only nine more to go.  Riley had a hard time swallowing it, but was a trooper and kept it all down.

Jer, Riley, Jules and I had dinner together.  Then put the girls down.  They were so very sweet.  Julia was in a hilarious mood.  Always laughing and giggling.  She kept asking me to sing "Jesus Loves Me" and "Happy Birthday" repeatedly.  So sweet.  Riley was very cuddly with Jeremy and extremely quiet.  Praying that she gets better and so thankful she is on the medicine before getting on the airplane.
